I was born October 8, 1978 in the city of Oxnard. When I was two, me and my family moved to the "Subic Bay Naval Station" in the city of Olongopo Phillippines. I had one older sister and an older brother.I went to an American school there called Kalayaan elementary.I lived there for about 5 years. During get togethers/Parties, I used to show off by Singing "My Way" using a pen as a pretend Microphone. In 1986 my Dad retired from the NAVY and decided to move back to his home town of Baguio.We also lived there for 5 years. Baguio was the starting point of my enjoymet of singing. One day my Mother asked me to sing her this one song by a popular singer titled "Lift up your hands". So I sang it to her. The next thing I know, My Mom told me that I will be singing in Church that coming Sunday. I was nervous, but I got through it somehow. I started to enjoy singing, so went on to sing in Church for a while. I participated in many Play's and presentation's around the Local area. Later on I joined the Church Choir. I continued to sing solo on certain occasions. Mainly holidays. I used to think that singing was just a thing to keep to myself and share to people who attended Church. I never thought of Performing somewhere else. I found my self changing my mind shortly after that. I was 1st year highschool at the University of Baguio. 1st year highschool would be around 6 or 7th grade here in the states. Both of my Brother and Sister were very popular in the school and there was so much pressure on me cause of their status. My Brother Everett, was well known for his Brains. My Sister Christine, was very Athletic, and won Misses U.B( It was like a beauty pagent but for both Men and Women. The funny thing was, that both my Brother and Sister joined the Pagent..... And they both won it! It was the first time in U.B that Brother and Sister won Mr&Misses U.B. They were even in the Baguio News Paper. Anyways, going on. So there was so much pressure on me going to that school. I did not know what to expect. I think in my own words "The Black Sheep of the family". I was different from both my Brother and Sister. I was totally opposite from my brother. I hated studying, while school was his life. Me and my Sister were a little similar. She used to write poetry and draw. One day during class, our teacher announced that the Highschool Talent show was coming up. At first I was like, sure what ever. I did not even think of auditioning for it. Then I think my Mom was talking to a Teacher, then Talent show was brought up somehow. My Mom to her that I sang at Church. So the next day my Mom told me to join the Talent show. I guess i was forced in to audition, so i did. And I got chosen that same day. I had to compeate against my fellow freshmen. And I was chosen to go to the finals. I was up against the sophomores, juniors, and seniors. I was so nervous. The thing that made it worse was that there was a 2hour black out. And it happened right when I was about to go and perform. I said to myself, What bad timing. I was already nervous then that happened. I just wanted to get it over with. Eventually the power came back and i started singing. Every thing was all good untill the very last part of the song. The power went out again. i did not know what to do. I was about to just stop, but my teacher told me to finish. So for the last couple of seconds I sang acapella. When everything was done and it was judging time, I just had my eye's closed. That's when I heard the MC say..."And the winner of the Universary of Baguio Talent Contest is..... Cesar de Leon jr. I was just shocked. I did not think that I could actually win the contest because there was so many other good singers who sang. But I was happy. For a moment, I felt like I did live up to the following of my older Brother and Sister. After that, I joined one more talen show for the school, and also won. I tried to get involved into school, so I ran for senator in our school election. We all had to go from class to class to get our votes from the school, so we also had to perform and entertain the class to get votes. It was pretty cool. Some of us did a dance routine, of course I sang. some even did a Magic trick. It was fun. But there was one Day that changed me and my families life, in a hard way. July 16, 1991. Around 4:30pm, a 7.7 EarthQuake struck Baguio. I was in school then, the ground started shaking violently. It lasted for 10 seconds. Then about 5 seconds after that another 7.7 EarthQuake struck. It was about 45 seconds long every one tried to run out of the room but all the shaking move all the chairs towards the door. Every one got out and on to the streets waiting for the Earthquake to end. It stoped. At first all you can hear was the rumbling of the earth, then after, you hear all of the people crying. There were multiple tremors following the 2 big ones. You could even see pieces of cement coming from the top floor of the buildings surrounding us. I started walking to find my familly and i found my Mom and Dad. Later on we found my Brother. I can still remember seeing people jumping out of the buildings out of desperation of getting out. 2 Buildings collapsed around the school. One was a Hotel with little cafe's around it, and the other was the U.B College building. The 9th story of the College building crashed down into the 6th story. The hotel on the other hand, the 2nd story fell to the ground crushing the 1st story. All of the Cafe's and restaurants were all on the first floor. Me and my family used to go to a restaurant ther called Maxilyn's. We knew the owners well. Two of the kids were traped in side the store. One died. It was the oldest daughter. We started to worry because we could'nt find my sister. We asked around to see if anyone has seen her before the earthquake. They told us she was somewhere else, or they saw her some where after the earthquake. But three days passed and we are still by the school hoping that she would be there looking for us. Then a girl who knew my sister came up to us and asked us why we were there. She did'nt know that My Sister was missing. She was shocked, because she explained that right before the earthquake, they were both in Maxilyn's restaurant. 1 minute before the Quake the friend left to go to class. So, after finding this out. We tried to get people to dig close to the site of the Maxilyn's. Hours passed by, night fall came and someone called my Dad to the location. He came back and said they found my sister Christine. We suddenly got happy, but there was no smile on my Dad's face. They called him there to Confirm the body. They found the necklace my Parents gave to her for her 20th Birth day. July 6th, 10 day's after her birthday... she was pronounced dead. It was very hard to accept the fact that she will not be with us anymore. It was hard on the whole familly. I was about 11 years old then. I still can't believe that she was taken away from us at that early stage of my life. I still wish that she was still here. Well, a year after the Quake my Mom and my Dad decided to move back here to the states. We all moved back here in 1992, except for my brother who stayed to finish school. So I was here in the states, just trying to fit in with the people in school. |
I was here in the states, just trying to fit in with the people in school. Then I found a place that made me feel like was from some where. That was when I got into a breaking crew called O.O.C. It stood for Out of Control. That's where I met my best friend's. It's been 8 years since I've been friends with them. They are my 2nd Familly. Luis (CHINO), Glenn (G-BOY), Norbert (KOSMIC),ROY (GOONIE), Bruce (NO-HEART),and Steve (QUE). I don't know where I would be without them. They are also the one's who convinced me to go through with my Music. Another Person who helped alot was Jesse (DaDdy). They try so hard to push me to do something better in my life, and maybe I could be a little stubborn (just a little:) they are alway there when they are needed for support. I just want to include my friends in my BIO because they are me. They are 8 years of my life. 8 crazy years of my life to be exact. I want to let everyone know how much these people mean to me. I'm saying this because maybe one day, one of us might not be here to kick it anymore, one less person to bag on. But I just want say thank you to all my best Friends out there. OK, Enough of my boring life story. Let's get down to the Music stuff. I started singing when I was 8 years old. I sang in Church and Play's. I alway's thought of Singing as a hobby. I joined a couple of Talent shows in the Phillippines and here around The LA area. I've done several Performances by request. I sang at Weddings, Debut's( I think that's how you spell it), Funerals, Community Performances. I've also auditioned for the Kennan Ivory Wayans show. 1 week later they canceled the show. I recently auditioned for a concert at a Talent agency here in Oxnard. I got chosen to be in the concert, but I won't get the chance to do so. I started writing my own material when I was in junior high. I've came up with numerous lyric's but could not come up with the acompanyment. I've had no real training in playing an instrument, but I can play by ear a little. I can play the Piano and a little Guitar. I do most of my songs on the Piano/KeyBoard. I've recently put other instruments into my music, I'm trying to be more versitile. My plan's are eventually being my own Producer, Writer, Composer. One day I want to own my own Record Label. But for now I know that I need some help. I would like to work with some one on a song, I've only worked with one person with a song that he performed at his school rally. I was also supposed to sing in a concert in San Diego acouple of years back, but it got cancled. So Far I have a demo Tape consisting 7 song's and 2 in the works. I'm working through my home computer to make my Demo presentable. So if anyone is interested in checking out my material just E-mail me, and we'll see what i can work out for you.
